How can therapy help?
Psychotherapy and Counselling can be helpful when difficult, painful or traumatic experiences arise and where your own efforts to resolve them just don't seem to work. Changing how we are can seem to be difficult especially when it relates to our Mental Health. It can take time and effort. However seeing a psychotherapist or counsellor for support can help this process by providing the time and space needed to explore and understand yourself and your experiences.
We acknowledge that we cannot change our past; what has happened has happened, but what we can do is change our relationship to what has happened so that our past not longer has power over us in the present.
The areas that I have experience in, amongst other Mental Health support areas are
- Anger and rage
- Anxiety or stress
- Compulsive behaviour
- Difficulty in dealing with stress or recovering from stressful situations
- Eating disorders
- Extreme mood swings
- Feelings of sadness or emptiness
- General anxiety disorder
- Grief; Difficulty in coming to terms with losses and bereavement
- Lack of confidence
- Obsessive behaviour
- Panic attacks
- Personality disorders
- Relationship difficulties
- Self harm
- Sexual difficulties
- Spiritual crisis
- Trauma and its related issues
- Work related difficulties
I work with clients for either an agreed time period if there is a specific issue that needs exploration or on an open-ended basis where more in-depth work can be done.
